The TU Graz participates in the European Graduate College "Physics and Chemistry of Advanced Materials." PhD students who participate in this program spend a minimum of six months doing research at a partner institution. There is an evaluation of each PhD thesis by two foreign professors. If the thesis meets the requirements, a european doctorate degree is awarded in addition to the degree awarded by the home institution.
